Environmental Technician 2

The Environmental Technician plays a key role in the assessment and implementation of site environmental compliance. The Environmental Technician must possess experience in the construction of sanitary landfills, gas extraction systems, environmental monitoring and fieldwork which include gas sampling, NPDES, and groundwater. The environmental technician will be assisting with the preparation of reports for consultants utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word. This position will be responsible for the Cincinnati area facilities.

  • Implement measures as provided in the Corrective Measures Plan. Provide the data required to enable optimization of the remedial activities including monitoring both leachate recovery rates and fluid levels in the waste mass.
  • Assist with the collection of the North end reaction area temperature data collection.
  • Assist in preparing data and documentation for inclusion in monthly and annual reports and submittals.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the collection of NPDES and or groundwater samples.
  • Implement and manage site environmental compliance audits and assessment of facility/campus as necessary.
  • Assist in maintaining site Operating Records and daily logs to maintain site compliance.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Federal and Ohio Solid Waste Regulations.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and monitor field sampling equipment as well as instrumentation for wastewater effluent monitoring.
  • Conduct stormwater site inspections in accordance with the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures plan and site inspections as assigned.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Windows Office software for report writing with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel for analyzing data and preparing charts and tables.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • A Bachelor-Degree or higher in Environmental Science, engineering or similar course work preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience preferred.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug test and background check
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record to meet Rumpke driving qualifications

  • Prolonged standing, bending, lifting, reaching
  • Frequent work outdoors for extended periods of time.
