Facilities Maintenance Technician

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing various types of facility and grounds maintenance at the Rumpke Headquarters Building. This position performs skilled painting, masonry, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, drywall, concrete, and related repair and maintenance. This position is responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds of the headquarters building.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform skilled construction, maintenance, and repair at the Corporate Headquarters building in a safe manner and in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and Company policies.
  • Perform preventive maintenance per schedule and as needed on all areas that pertain to the proper function of the building.
  • Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
  • Prepare conference rooms for meetings; remove or rearrange furniture as needed.
  • Contact outside vendors for repairs as directed by the manager.
  • Assist/perform in repairs of plumbing, construction, and HVAC as needed.
  • Monitor fire suppression and alarm systems.
  • Maintain compliance with state and local authorities that pertains to elevator, boilers, sprinkler systems, and domestic water backflow inspections.
  • Operate various hand-held manual, electrical, and gas-powered tools, and equipment.
  • Recognize and repair any detected deterioration, repair, and/or maintenance needs.
  • Snow removal and salt application to driveways, walkways, and parking lot.
  • Operate a snowplow vehicle.
  • Mow and edge the lawn, using power mowers and trimmers.
  • Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
  • Trim or pick flowers and clean flower beds.
  • Maintain exterior property, including but not limited to; sprinkler, mulch beds, trash, sidewalks.
  • Assist with the planning, estimating, and coordination of more complex tasks.
  • Assist in supporting the safety and physical integrity of the property, structures, facilities, and equipment.
  • Applies for and obtains permits for building projects, as required.
  • Maintain accurate records (work orders, materials/supplies usage, cost estimates, labor time, maintenance logs, etc.).
  • Create maintenance and purchase orders in SAP.
  • Assist in the unloading of trucks as needed using a forklift.
  • Able to respond to emergency after-hours calls as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, stretching, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas).
  • Knowledge of carpentry, drywall, concrete, plumbing, maintenance, painting, mechanical, and general building repair.
  • SAP experience a plus.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience working with various hand tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to safely perform building maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 2-4 years performing building repair and maintenance experience required.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug test.
  • Must have at least a valid driver’s license and be able to meet driving requirements.
  • Must possess a valid Medical Card or obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, instructions, signs, signals, and safety training.


PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and fumes as found in a repair facility.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
