Fixed Asset Accountant 1

The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets. This position is responsible for the preparation and documentation of fixed asset reports in a manner that ensures accuracy and compliance with company accounting policies.

The Fixed Asset Accountant must be dedicated, industrious, and committed to accuracy in all transactions. We need a responsible professional who will be instrumental in supporting the ongoing growth and success of Rumpke.

  • Perform job duties in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies • Maintain the department’s operating standards, policies, procedures, goals and objective
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in processes and implement changes as required
  • Process asset transfers, disposals, and additions for all Rumpke locations
  • Administrator of Capital Expenditure and Fixed Asset Tracker databases
  • Maintain files for each project including copies of all invoices
  • Reconcile Construction in Process (CIP) monthly to the general ledger
  • Prepare monthly journal entries as needed
  • Prepare and distribute monthly reports of Capital Expenditures, CIP, vehicle overhauls, and a roll forward of all fixed asset
  • Attend and present information at Capital Expenditure meetings with executives and area managers
  • Preparation of various yearly external financial audit schedules
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with employees, co-workers, and management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial information
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to professionally interact and communicate with all levels and departments to accomplish goals in an effective manner
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Employ a proactive approach to problem solving and overall execution of job responsibilities
  • Advanced Microsoft proficiency, including Excel Pivot Tables and V-Lookups
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively to manage multiple projects and tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and within a team environment
  • Must possess a professional demeanor and communication skills
  • Waste industry experience a plus
  • Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends and/or holiday
  • Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business

Educations and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in an Accounting position
  • Previous Fixed Asset experience strongly preferred
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug test
  • Must have valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and good driving record to meet Rumpke driving qualifications
