RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fuels trucks, equipment and machinery at various locations.
- Injects grease into, but not limited to, springs, universal joints, bearings, etc. per standard maintenance practices.
- Utilizes hand, battery, or compressed air powered grease gun.
- Inspects and adds to all fluid levels
- Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants.
- Drains oil from crankcase and refills crankcase with required amount of oil.
- Replaces oil and air filters.
- Maintains related records on vehicles and equipment.
- Inspects equipment for deficiencies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuses, and fluid levels and submits report indicating equipment condition.
- Assists in shop with services as directed.
- Assists in shop with housekeeping, stock parts, picking up parts, etc.
- Operates the following equipment: heavy equipment, roadway sweeper truck, roadway flush truck and roll off trucks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas).
- Must be able to lift weights exceeding 50 pounds regularly.
- Good mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to learn various equipment maintenance activities.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
- Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have at least a valid driver’s license.
- Must have the ability to obtain a Class B CDL with tanker endorsement.
- Must be able to operate both automatic and standard transmissions.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and fumes as found in a repair facility.
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions possible.
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions while performing road calls.
