Fuel Lube Specialist

Fuel Lube Specialists have multi-function responsibilities to include operating heavy equipment, the roadway sweeper truck, flush truck, and a roll off truck. Additionally responsible for fueling, greasing, and providing general maintenance to equipment.

This position routinely requires moderate to extreme physical exertion and may require prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working in awkward positions. Fuel Lube Specialists are exposed to extreme weather conditions and shop environment. The hours and physical demand may vary by location.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
  • Fuel trucks, equipment, and machinery at various locations.
  • Inject grease into, but not limited to, springs, universal joints, bearings, etc. per standard maintenance practices.
  • Utilize hand, battery, or compressed air powered grease gun.
  • Inspect and add to all fluid levels.
  • Lubricate moving parts with specified lubricants.
  • Drain oil from crankcase and refill crankcase with required amount of oil.
  • Replace oil and air filters.
  • Maintain related records on vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect equipment for deficiencies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuses, and fluid levels and submit reports indicating equipment condition.
  • Assist in shop with services as directed.
  • Assist in shop with housekeeping, stock parts, picking up parts, etc.
  • Operate the following equipment: heavy equipment, roadway sweeper truck, roadway flush truck and roll off trucks.
  • Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas).
  • Must be able to lift weights exceeding 50 pounds regularly.
  • Good mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to learn various equipment maintenance activities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
  • Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have at least a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Class B CDL with tanker endorsement.
  • Must be able to operate both automatic and standard transmissions.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
  • Must be able to produce satisfactory pre-employment drug test and background check results


PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas.
  • Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and fumes as found in a repair facility.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions possible.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Possible exposure to high traffic conditions while performing road calls.
