Quality Control Supervisor

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all safety and compliance standards are met or exceeded by the work site. Performs inspections to see that baled products produced meet or exceed quality requirements of the customer and the Company; this includes safety, production, quality of goods, training, and supervision of Forklift Operators to ensure safe operations and material quality expectations. The Recycling Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for inspecting finished bales prior to being sent to customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
  • Ensure all safety and compliance standards are met or exceeded by the work site.
  • Ensure all materials produced meet or exceed quality standards as set by Management or other designated quality standards.
  • Work with Assistant Plant Manager and Operations Team to ensure that quality standards are met on all incoming and outgoing loads.
  • Document all quality issues and provide pictures, scale tickets, and summaries of material inspections which can be forwarded to Rumpke sales and marketing professionals.
  • Perform inspections of inbound loads of materials received at the Cincinnati MRF and Rumpke Elmwood and create trackable reports.
  • Perform inspections on bales and loose finished product to ensure quality guidelines are met.
  • Present written reports in a logical and cohesive manner to management.
  • Train as a backup Plant Operator at both Cincinnati MRF and Rumpke Elmwood recycling operations. This includes Baler operations and Elmwood Plant oversight as needed to cover vacations and other personnel issues.
  • Monitor safety relating to DOT & OSHA in accordance with federal and Rumpke policy.
  • Train and direct employees to improve their overall quality performance.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with employees, co-workers, and management.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • General knowledge of paper and plastics grade specifications used in the recycling industry.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Proficiency in math and computer skills.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, sitting, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, and climbing).
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends night shifts and/or holidays.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience of three years or more managing or supervising processes relevant to the Recycling or Waste industry with knowledge of commodity quality specifications.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to produce satisfactory pre-employment drug test and background check results.


PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Office and/or Plant environments.
  • This position may be exposed to unpleasant odors and sights and weather elements.
  • Exposure to noise, heat, cold and dust found in a production facility.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste and recycling.
  • Exposure to equipment traffic.
  • Prolonged sitting and repetitive motions performed answering phone and working on computer.
  • Prolonged physical exertions, including standing, sitting, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
